TAU embraces sustainable product design with the Lama collection’s simple, natural wood selection
TAU embraces sustainable product design with the Lama collection’s simple, natural wood selection

Cronos is Porcelanatto’s latest contribution to the project field; a very high-tech product which still manages to incorporate decorative elements, even though it is sold at a highly competitive price

TAU is all about nature in its purest form. Authenticity, simplicity, comfort and warmth all help to shape the brand’s new collection, Lama, the product which will be stealing the limelight on the company’s stand at the Cevisama show (Pavilion 3, level 3, Stand B42), to be held in Valencia from 8th to 11th February.
Lama is TAU’s response to the process of reviewing values which is now being seen all over the world as a result of the current economic circumstances. This process has also had an effect upon the field of aesthetics, decoration and interior design, and TAU has managed to synthesise this in Lama, a range which draws on all the beauty of wood in its purest essence, although bringing to it all the innovation provided by ceramic materials and the use of the latest digital decoration technology, a field in which the company is highly skilled and experienced. In this search for authenticity1, Lama offers the perfect combination between nature and technology. There is a full balance, not just from the aesthetic point of view but even in environmental and sustainable development terms and
this is why, as a result of the wide variety of series which go together to make up the Lama collection, the TAU stand at Cevisama takes you on a trip through the world’s major forests, which TAU is helping to preserve, given that the extremely high-tech properties used to design each of the models using this noble, age-old ceramic wood effect2 guarantee the sustainability and stability of the finish, although without having to exhaust supplies of the original material. In the same way TAU’s commitment to environmentalism has led the company to apply the most efficient processes during the manufacturing of its products, to such an extent that there is now even an Ecotile version, made using up to 95% recycled materials.
Lama, by TAU, is a porcelain tile designed in two formats: the spectacular, unique 20x120, designed for interiors, and the 15x60, which can be used both for interiors and exteriors. In both formats, the company has created a palette covering five chromatic variations, Ash, Walnut, Oak, White and Grey, all of which offer the most faithful reproduction possible of the natural feel of the wood.

Lama offers both decorative and architectural solutions and is undoubtedly one of the most brilliant of the many products TAU will have on display at this latest Cevisama show, once again highlighting the company’s firm commitment to originality and added value on both aesthetic and technical levels.
TAU is taking part in Cevisama 2011 with an unusual but welcoming stand showing a very full range of products. The stand’s various different sections take you on a whirlwind tour through innovation and design, so you can check out the latest products and solutions from TAU, Porcelanatto and S3 (Smart Surface Systems) in the fields of interior design, architecture and contracting, and also urban planning.
In this respect, one highlight is the Tallin collection, a brand-new set of products using traditional white ceramics. Their key feature is the perfect harmony between reliefs and colours, the two main hallmarks of a line offering enormous decorative versatility, as it is able to combine both aspects, as well as linking up with other TAU collections. This product is especially perfect for consumers who want to personalise their own spaces, so that their homes become just one more extension of their own unique outlooks on life. Tallin is available in the 31.6x60 format and in white, blue, black and wenge. It also includes two other pieces with two possible relief versions, one of them in four shades, the other in two.
In a similar way, TAU’s Tallin collection allows combinations with the Fiber series, a line of products which remain very popular on the market because they are so readily accepted by opinion leaders.
Finally, rounding off TAU’s range of new products, we have Tuscany, a porcelain tile available in three formats (30x30/45x45/30x60) whose principal hallmark is its starkly neutral effect, giving it enormous personality. Tuscany deepens the commitment to a natural feel upon which TAU has embarked at Cevisama. This is a product which is especially well-suited to restrained environments, although that does not mean giving up on the ideas of warmth or design in these spaces.
As for Porcelanatto, this year’s Cevisama marks one year since it became a TAU brand. During this time, its catalogue has consolidated itself as one of the most ambitious around, coming up with mould-breaking ideas and setting standards in the fields of contracting, architecture and interior design. This is a challenge which the company rises to meet whilst guarding its reputation for quality and customer service. All of this hard work has paid off and, in just 12 months, Porcelanatto has been responsible for some of the most innovative projects in the world, especially thanks to the NO-Stalgia collection, produced by the much-feted international designer Karim Rashid and which can now been seen adorning some of the most unusual buildings and interiors on the planet, such as the NHow hotel in Berlin.
To mark Cevisama 2011, Porcelanatto is incorporating a new collection into its product catalogue, showing the full range of decorative opportunities the company's products offer. Its name is Cronos, and it is a very high-tech product which has been especially developed for application to public projects and spaces. Its cutting edge design gives it the strength to remain stable even when used in very busy spaces. Even so, Cronos (60x60/30x60) is now taking things one step further and is for the first time introducing decorative effects on the surface of the model, a brand-new effect which opens up a whole new range of possibilities in the construction industry, whilst at the same time ensuring that the price remains highly competitive. Cronos is a ceramic solution available in five shades (beige, white, grey, brown and black), thus offering a whole host of finishes and application options, providing a result which is always superb and yet always fresh and new.
Finally, completing the TAU stand we have the S3-TAU terrace. S3-TAU is the company’s engineering projects division. This is a space designed using Waytecsystem, a building solution which allows the tiling of spaces such as attics, covered terraces or the typical area with tables and chairs you see on streets and in squares in Spain3, regardless of how uneven the ground may be, at the same time providing a wonderful aesthetic finish which is also totally sustainable, given that it requires no works. On this occasion, the system is combined with Civis’Termia, the first radiant heating system for both interiors and exteriors which warms up spaces controllably and comfortably, thus providing a feeling of well-being. This means that the S3-TAU product not only provides heat, it also generates comfort for users, through the special properties with which it has been designed, after exhaustive scientific studies on energy distribution. All of this also comes with a superb aesthetic effect, given that there is no need for the cumbersome heaters which usually have to be installed in areas of this kind which are exposed to bad weather. The cutting edge factor is provided by the pieces from the Emotion series, from the NO-Stalgia collection designed by Karim Rashid, created using a combination of the Fire Orange and Grey models, both manufactured in 60x60 format. Engineering, design and comfort, all in a single space.
