The TAU engineering projects division S3-TAU introduces a revolutionary system for al fresco dining at Cevisama that represents the fast, comfortable and integrated solution to the challenge currently facing the hotel and restaurant sector: complying with the Spanish no-smoking law that came into force on January 2, with smoke-free public spaces that preserve the image, quality and comfort that they have been providing to their customers, with smoking areas now transferred outside their establishments.
In this sense, S3-TAU is presenting a system that tackles every concept and eliminates all the problems that setting up al fresco dining in urban areas generates for hotel and restaurant professionals at the stand that it occupies in the fair (Pavilion 3, Level 3, Stand B42), which is being held from the 8th to the 11th of February in Valencia. This is displayed through the recreation of a life-sized model demonstrating that this is already an available solution - perfectly adaptable, moreover, to the specific needs that each user on the market has.
To begin with, the base of the outdoor dining area was built thanks to the S3-TAU Waytecsystem, an innovative building system for raised technical floor surfaces that makes it possible to provide professional spaces with surface treatment and make them accessible, guaranteeing compliance with the CTE (the Spanish technical building code). In addition, it lends flexibility to the location of services and installations without sacrificing either aesthetic values or comfort. In its outdoor version, such as is applied to the Cevisama model, or to any urban al fresco dining space, it allows for the use of, and transit through, irregular surface areas and variable slopes, whether these are on streets or squares or in building penthouses.
The advantages of Waytecsystem are functional, sustainable and aesthetic. Functional because al fresco dining areas are easily and swiftly assembled by S3-TAU professionals, without the need for adaptation works. Likewise, the structure itself makes it possible for all electric or acoustic installations - to name two examples - to be hidden under the flooring of the installation proper. It is also sustainable since it does not require maintenance and is easy to clean, allowing for the passage of persons and the recovery of unused spaces. Where necessary, it can be dismounted in such a way as not to leave any traces on site. Lastly, it allows for the inclusion of substantial design, since it admits the use of the most avant-garde ceramic flooring that may be substituted fast and safely. Likewise, since it is an open structure, the outdoor areas admit any type of decoration and may even serve as a ‘prolongation’ of the motifs that the establishment uses in the interior, unifying styles and brand image.

CIVIS’TERMIA®: COMFORTABLE HEATING
The engineering work done by S3-TAU in the field of architecture and urban design, fully oriented towards improving the quality of human life, makes the Waytecsystem perfectly combinable and compatible with Civis’Termia, the first recordable and sustainable system of heated ceramic flooring designed to afford new uses for spaces. This is a system that transmits radiant heat from the floor while being designed to provide users a sensation of comfort and well-being, capable of being controlled as regards both intensity and activation by specific sector. It is also possible to select from among several power capacities, making the system adaptable to the environmental needs of any outdoor dining area depending on the climate conditions of each city and its geographical location.
This result is possible thanks to the collaboration between S3-TAU and the Ceca Group, following meticulous scientific studies and measurements done by the company specialists and the experts of the Biomechanical Institute of Valencia (IBV).
The benefits of using Civis’Termia are dual: not only is the enjoyment and comfort of customers guaranteed, al fresco dining spaces notwithstanding (although it can also be used in interiors); in addition, the use of cumbersome gas heaters between tables is avoided in favour of customer safety, saving costs in terms of energy efficiency and improving the appearance of the establishment.
And as has already been said, all of this is achieved without sacrificing style and design factors, a value on the rise that is becoming extremely decisive in a customer’s choice of establishment as regards what is coming to be called the “gastronomic experience”. For this reason, S3-TAU outdoor dining venues were designed using the innovative elements of the Emotion series, from the NO-Stalgia collection signed by the prestigious international designer Karim Rashid. Specifically, the models Fire Orange and Grey Emotion, both manufactured in 60x60 pieces, are utilised.
Moreover, in its product catalogue, S3-TAU also includes solutions as innovative as Keraon, the first ceramic based material for outdoor furnishings, which may even be combined with Civis’Termia, so that when a user sits on a bench or leans on a table in the dining area, s/he finds it at the perfect temperature.
Likewise, S3-TAU specialists are working on incorporating intelligent humidification to these proposals for temperature control systems, in such a way that the environment is not only heated but purified.
