IES Cotes Baixes: A Space Created to Transform

IES Cotes Baixes is part of the industrial and educational DNA of Alcoy. A public institution with more than 1,300 students and 150 teachers committed to a dynamic approach to education, closely connected to today’s social and professional realities. Recognized by the Ministry of Education as a Center of Excellence in Vocational Education and Training, Cotes Baixes is now a benchmark for educational innovation, internationalization, and talent development.

In a project of this scale, the selection of materials becomes a strategic tool to support transformation. Lively educational spaces, heavily used and designed to encourage interaction, require solutions that are durable, functional, and aesthetically strong. Within this framework, TAU played an active role by providing flooring solutions capable of meeting the center’s technical requirements while reinforcing its innovative identity.

For the main flooring of the lobby, Salon X, faculty lounge, auditorium, cafeteria, and outdoor areas, the Teide model from the Tornares collection was selected. Its design, defined by small white, beige, and orange flecks, adds dynamism, visual rhythm, and continuity throughout the spaces. Our sales team recommended this solution for its ability to convey movement and energy—qualities that are especially valuable in an educational environment where learning is active and constantly evolving.

In the cafeteria, one of the most frequently used areas by both students and faculty, the Capri model in Olive was chosen. Its texture and color create a dynamic, welcoming atmosphere that enhances comfort, interaction, and well-being. A surface designed to withstand intensive daily use without compromising on design or the warmth of the space.

This carefully curated selection of materials is part of a comprehensive project that relies on leading suppliers and high-performance solutions, where flooring, lighting, furniture, and technology work together to create environments that inspire and motivate.
