Quatre Carreres Penthouse

Designing a home is, above all, about understanding how a space is lived. This principle guides the work of Nihil Estudio, which in this residential project in the Quatre Carreres neighborhood of Valencia transforms a newly built penthouse into a home with its own identity.

Originally bright but neutral, the apartment needed to reflect its owner’s personality. With complete creative freedom, the studio conceived a proposal that unites functionality, emotion, and materiality. The result is an open space, visually connected to the exterior, where ceramics become the guiding thread of the project.

The intervention focused on enhancing natural light, removing unnecessary partitions to create a sense of openness and continuity. Light washes over the ceramic surfaces, highlighting their nuances and textures, turning them into the true protagonists of the space.

The choice of materials defines the project’s identity. The Brest Tan Natural flooring provides a warm and neutral base that unifies the common areas. On the walls, Marquina Black Pul introduces depth and sophistication, contrasting with the golden softness of Onice Gold Pul in the small bathroom, where light is reflected subtly and precisely. In the main bedroom, Magna Blue Pul generates a serene and enveloping atmosphere, while Integra Gray 20mm, used outdoors, maintains aesthetic and functional coherence throughout.

In dialogue with these surfaces, marble and walnut wood enhance the sensory richness of the design. Marble contributes purity and sobriety; walnut adds warmth and intimacy. The combination of both materials creates a balanced visual and tactile experience, where each texture plays a distinct role.

Lighting, carefully designed down to the smallest detail, acts as a scenographic resource that emphasizes materiality: it accentuates volumes, reveals reflections, and defines atmospheres that evolve throughout the day.

The result is a contemporary retreat, where ceramics not only cover surfaces but define the very identity of the space. A home that reflects the aesthetic sensitivity of Nihil Estudio and showcases the expressive potential of ceramics as a central element of architectural design.
